In order to maintain Approved Clinical Coding Trainer status, all trainers must provide evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
As such, as part of the Clinical Coding Trainer Programme (CCTP), all Apprentice Clinical Coding Trainers must undergo a trainer promotion assessment following completion of 42 days classroom-based delivery/awareness sessions no earlier than 6 months and no later than two years following the Train the Trainer course.
In addition to their initial trainer promotion assessment, all CCS Approved Clinical Coding Trainers are required to undergo a mandatory training delivery skills assessment three years after their initial Certificate in Education and Training Course to maintain their approved status. Following on from their initial re-certification, all CCS Approved Clinical Coding Trainers must undergo further re-certification assessment every 3 years when their Certificate expires.
Here at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we have a qualified TAP Assessor and are able to provide both the promotion and re-certification TAP assessments upon request.
